I have been disconnected for a long time because of a small device that adapts European cables to British networks. I am back to London and I don’t find it more changed than other times when I have come back after being abroad for shorter periods than this time.
The saddest thing has been to arrive and find it’s raining, and it is the end of July. I should be used to it, but I will of course miss the beach and the good weather.
London feels a bit empty. It might be because most Londoners are on holiday. I don’t use the underground at peak hours (or at any hour for that matter) but those who use it to go to work say that it is not that they are afraid, it is that they are certain that bombs will happen again because they failed in the last attempt.
Traffic is still horrible and it is still more probable to die in it – specially if you bike – than in the underground.
